Why mappings of functional diagrams, e.g. P&IDs, are essential

Introduction

During the IMMM Project, a couple of years ago, I tried to convince the CAE software suppliers to provide a mapping of P&IDs to ISO 15926-7/8. They were not interested then.
This is a new attempt, because the mapping of topological data to ISO 15926-7/8 is essential for the success of ISO 15926, simply because nobody expects a mapping by hand.

As stipulated earlier, the only information to be mapped is about:

Normally, nowadays, a CAE system deals with much more information. The vast majority of that shall be mapped to Class level, since that information is about requirements, so about definitions, not about descriptions. For the most Classes are defined with ranges rather than point values.
